Fr. Robert Prevost (Leo XIV) has participated in a Pachamama “Mother Earth” ritual while attending an Augustinian theological symposium in 1995, reports LifeSiteNews.com (March 18). The scandal was uncovered by Fr. Charles Murr. Three Augustinian priests have confirmed to him that Robert Prevost is clearly visible among the kneeling participants in the photo. None of the three were present at the 1995 ritual itself. They recognized their confrere from the published image. The photo appeared in the proceedings of the “Lectura de San Agustín desde América Latina” (São Paulo, January 23-28, 1995), published as the book Ecoteología: Una Perspectiva desde San Agustín (México, 1996). I got to the Andes in Argentina a few years after this. Among the clergy the general pastoral practice was to treat the Pachamama as a superstition that needed to be eliminated. Even the left leaning clergy treated it with a paternalistic tolerance. It was an anthropological phenomenon of simple people a few generations removed from hunting and gathering. The missionary would play along with local customs like a dad plays pretend with his 4 year old talking to his stuffed animal. Often the locals would play with it like a good luck charm. Very few would take it seriously. Feminists and communists would feign to take it seriously just because it was transgressive. They were not for the Pachamama but were against male-normative, sexist society.
Is this a surprise? I mean, Prevost never denounce those worshiping pachamama in the Vatican the 1st time, as a matter of fact MOST priests didn’t... This is why we need to pray for priests for them to shake off their cowardice and omission.

Kardinal Reinhard Marx of Munich has reopened the parish church Thomas Morus in Munich-Sendling with a Eucharist on Sunday. The renovation project began in 2021 and cost approximately €17.9 million. Works included repairs to the roof, façade, technical systems, and the large stained-glass window at the front of the church. The most significant change is the addition of a parish hall on an emporium inside the church, complete with a kitchenette. This new structure is separated from the church interior by a large glass construction.

The cultural centre in Havelange, Belgium, has cancelled the blasphemous play Madonna (non) grata, which was due to be performed on 27 March. The play aimed to depict a figure called "Virgin Mary" as a fallen virgin trapped in a decaying, mould-infested sanctuary. Her body is described as decaying and diseased yet unnaturally immortal.
