Strickland explains that God’s condescension is not prideful speaking down; it is a loving descent. The eternal God bends low to speak in human words, to enter human history, to take on human flesh. He does not wait for mankind to climb to Him. He comes down. He speaks through shepherds, kings, fishermen, and prophets. He allows His Word to be expressed in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek. And, ultimately, He takes flesh in the womb of the Virgin, the Word made flesh, dwelling among us.
